You must write at least two paragraphs. Be creative! For example, write your newspaper article as if you are reporting the story when it happened, not as if you are reporting it many days or years later. You must add a graphic, too.

Using the WebQuest link you will begin your WebQuest to find answers to help you write a question and answer to a computer advice column. The Task

PART 1:

PART 2:

This is an example of a computer advice column question. You will write a question AND a reply.

Dear Mr. Computer Wiz,

Something very weird is happening on my brand new computer. Every time I save a file, I type in a really great name for it. Like one of my files is a photo of a race car and I named it “NASCAR”. Great name, right? Anyway, after I save it, my computer adds three letters at the end. Like this: gif. Sometimes it adds the letters “doc” or “ppt”. It is really driving me crazy! Is my computer broken?

Signed, Dell C.

The Process

  1. Go to the WebQuest to find computer crimes and answers to computer problems.
  2. Look at the newspapers in the classroom to get ideas to layout a news article.
  3. Go to Microsoft Word and create a document for your Computer Crime article.
  4. Add a graphic from Microsoft Word clip art.
  5. When finished, save the article as "yourname_bct1_crimes_viruses.doc"
  6. Insert a second page into your existing document and add the computer advice column to your document.
  7. Proofread and spell check your document. Save the document again.
  8. Print the document and hand it in to your class assignment box.
